Giant Crystal Cave

 


Giant Crystal Cave is a U-formed cavity in the limestone below the Sierra de Naica, Chihuahua, Mexico. It appears as a chamber inside the limestone have rock of the mine and is around 109 meter long with a volume of 5,000 to 6,000 cubic meters. The precious stones inside the cavern are secured to the dividers and floor and have encountered in any event a large portion of half a million years of continuous development.



The cavern was found in April 2000 by siblings Juan and Pedro Sanchez while boring in the mine. As of October 2015, the mine had reflooded and the cave filled again with the water plentiful in minerals needed for the gems to develop.

The chamber of the cavern contains giant selenite crystals. The biggest is 11.40 meters with a volume of around 5 cubic meters and an expected mass of 12 tons.



These days, visitors are not allowed in the Cave of Crystals. The hot and damp conditions make this cavern a perilous spot to visit. A guest who stays for a really long time or doesn't have the appropriate stuff hazards having liquids gather inside their lungs which can be lethal. Indeed, even researchers need to get an uncommon grant and wear extraordinary stuff to enter the cavern.
